• Research on Cardiac Needs Published

A group of Ethiopian physicians supported by FCHFE had a research paper accepted for publication in the international journal Heart Asia.  Their study was designed to determine the spectrum of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) in six main referral hospitals in different regions of Ethiopia.  It showed that rheumatic valvular heart disease was the most common cardiovascular diagnosis among patients seen at cardiology clinics at those hospitals, followed by congenital heart diseases. The patients were young – the median age was 33 years. The results are being shared with the Ministry of Health, to improve understanding of the needs and possible treatment gaps, particularly for children and young adults with CVDs in Ethiopia.
